Concluding Opinion
Yes the Chinese Exclusion Act has been resolved. On June 22,2006, Prime Minister Stephen Harper rose in the House of Commons and formally apologized to the Chinese Canadians on behalf of the people and the government of Canada for the use of the Head Tax and the Chinese Exclusion Act. After about 25 years after Mr. Dak Leon Mark raised this issue to his M.P. CCNC was a big organization which helped them solve this issue. For those who were still alive, this was a long awaited moment; but for many more who had since passed away, the apology came too late. (1)
This is a severe racism issue, this is just like how the United States treated Black people in the U.S in the 1800s. To prevent this in the future, each and every individual should treat each other the same, as if they were in someone else's shoes. Treat other people they way that you would like to be treated. For example, like the Canada we know now is very multicultural, which brings in many new products, ways of doing things, etc. Ethnic restaurants, grocery stores and clothing stores add flavor and color to communities, attracting new residents and tourists, and adding to the vitality of the community. Lastly, immigrants can open doors to investment opportunities overseas and help attract foreign investment in Canada. These are the many benefits that Canada gets after it repealed its discriminating acts and became much friendlier. My last suggestion is for the country think about, before they act, is what that ethnic group could or has already brought to the country.
